FINISHED Finishes and a Few WIP Pics.

Hello All!

I feel like I've been stitching up a storm!  I have THREE active WIPs!  I blame my friends Kenny and Andrea.  I also got two pieces back from the finisher!  Yay!

Here is Buttercup AKA Enchanted Mermaid back from Jill Rensel.  LOVE how she came out and I have her hanging in a spot so I can see her from my stitchy spot.  Thank you again to all of my friends who contributed!

And here is Elphaba AKA Ana back from my finisher.  She is finished into a stand alone cube and I love her!  You can email me at the profile email if you'd like the name and email of my finisher, Diana.

And onto the WIPs!  I couldn't very well stitch Elphaba the Wicked and not stitch Glenda the Good.  So here's my modest start on her.  Karen helped me again with the crown and I'll post the chart and color conversion when she's finished.

This is Sunflower Fairy from the September 2009 issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework.  She's so cute and tiny!

This is the most recent pic I've taken of Mermaid Undine but I'm quite a bit further.  She could be done in a week or two if I wasn't distracted by Glenda and Sunflower Fairy.

Well, that's it for now!  TTFN!

A Little Update and a Future Projection.

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.  School starts on Tuesday for us so life is a frenzy right now!  But, I have been busy stitching and crafting a little bit too!

First, here is a current pic of my Enchanted Mermaid taken at a minor league baseball game this afternoon.  I had my own personal Stitch and Pitch :)

So far, I LOVE how the colors are working on the fabric!  I named the fabric Mermaid's Seas.  Thank you to Cassie for helping with the name!

Here is a pic of how she will hopefully look when she's done.  I used PC Stitch to work her conversion out and while it took forever to enter the chart, I like that I can manipulate the pattern so easily.  Unfortunately, PC Stitch does not support Caron Waterlilies, Rainbow Gallery Threads, or Delicas so I had to get as close as I could with DMC, Kreinik and Mill Hill.  But I still think it is a pretty good idea of how she'll look.

My husband has named her Buttercup.  He says her crown makes her look a lot like Buttercup from the movie The Princess Bride and I have to agree.

Another thing I did this week was a new fob for my new scissors.  They are cotton candy scissors with a plastic sheath and they are my third pair of these little scissors.  Of course, I've lost the sheathes for the first two pairs so I designed a little fob that would connect the sheath to the scissors.

I am looking for a wholesale supplier for the scissors so I can sell them together.

Small reminder:  My contest to name my individual dyed fabrics ends tomorrow evening.  I will pick my top three and the winner will receive an eighth of Mermaid's Seas on 32 Lugana and the two runners up will also get a small prize.  You can enter by commenting on the post in my Facebook group for Under The Sea Fabrics.

Thanks for reading and looking!  TTFN!

A Small Finish and a Big Start! :)

Hello All!  I'm getting settled and dyeing fabric and stitching again!  Yay!  I finished my Round Robin block this week.  Silver Moon Tea for Renee's Round Robin

I love that all of her beads are opaque.  It made beading her more interesting.

I did a poll last month to decide on what project I was going to start next.  The numbers were really close and Crystal Symphony was the winner by one vote.  Then, of course, I changed my mind completely about the color scheme and I'm still finessing it.  So, I'm starting Enchanted Mermaid, the second place winner.  I am converting her colors to purple and her hair to a light red.  Here is a floss toss.

The fabric is one I dyed myself and that my friend, Cassie, named Mermaid's Seas.  I love how the purples and the hair colors pop.  I'm also converting all of the beads and treasures to Delicas and Swarovski crystals.  In then end, it was actually much cheaper to go that route.  I will of course post the conversion when she is finished.

If you are on facebook, please check out my facebook group I've set up to show and sell my fabrics: Leslie's Fabric for Sale.

TTFN!

Fabrics and Floss Tosses :)

Hello Everyone!  I'm super excited to show my progress on Persephone!  I've spent a lot of time with her this week!

I'm so close to being done I'm considering my next Mirabilia!  Floss Tosses aplenty today!  First, Merchant Mermaid.  I really want her to look like a vintage pub sign so I'm planning to stitch her on Ale by Picture this Plus.  Thanks to Amanda for recharting the words for me!

The next one I'm considering is Villa Mirabilia.  I love her dress!  I plan to stitch her on Fairy Forest Opalescent by the Crafty Kitten because I think the fabric and the very faint mottling won't detract from her very detailed dress.  It's also the only piece of fabric I have big enough for her!

The next one I'm considering is Enchanted Mermaid.  I'm stuck between Crystal Mirage and Crystal Meditation by Picture This Plus.  The colors shown are from the purple conversion I'm planning for her.  First, Crystal Meditation:

And this next one is Crystal Mirage:

I'm just not sure which one of those I want to stitch first!

I spent some time this week dyeing fabrics!  I had a ton of fun!  Two of them are spoken for, but if you'd like to buy one of the top three, please let me know.  I'm selling them for $16 plus $2 shipping in the US.  For other countries, I'll charge shipping based on what the post office tells me.

This one is for my friend Vicki :

And this one is for my friend Cassie:

Thanks for sticking around for another long post, everyone!  TTFN!!!!

A Little Bit of Christmas S.E.X. and a Little Bit of Mystery...

Hello Everyone!  I'm so glad so many have chosen to follow me after just one post!  I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your support!  I'm gathering some pretty silks to give away to thank you guys when I hit 25 followers.  For now, I hope everyone had a happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, Kwnazaa or just a happy day off with friends and family.  The fat red-suited man brought me several lovely goodies!  Mostly stitchy stash and I just love an excuse for Stash Enhancement eXperience!  First, I got a pre-Christmas treat when the fat-quarter of Sugar Maple's 32 ct. Diana Belfast came in the mail on Christmas Eve:

I intended to use it for Enchanted Mermaid by Mirabilia but I just don't think it's quite as dark as I'd like.  I'm going to do a floss toss soon to decide.  There are several colors from Sparklie's Fabrics I think would work as well and I'm putting together a list of samples to order.  I LOVE that you can order samples before you commit to a fat-quarter of fabric based on a picture on your computer monitor.

I also recieved a lovely OttLite!  I wanted one for travel and this one is perfect!

And last, but certainly not least, I received a sit-on lap stand from K's Creations.  I love it!

It came in unfinished wood, like you can see with the Q-snap clamp on top.  I opted not to stain the q-snap clamp until I knew for sure that the stain wouldn't rub off.. I've decided to go ahead and stain it and it is currently drying.  You can see a small preview of Mermaid of the Pearls in the Q-snaps.  I'll post a better picture of her and the fabric she's being stitched on later this week.

Starting on January 1st, 2012, I'll be starting Chatelaine Mystery XV: Deep Blue Sea.  I think it will be a lovely compliment to my mermaids.  I've chosen to stitch it on black because I would also like to stitch Chatelaine's Octopus Treasure Cove and I think they should coordinate.  Here is a preview of some of the silks and the 32 ct. black lugana I plan to stitch it on.

So far, I'm loving the colors!  The first part of Deep Blue Sea has been posted but I want to get another good week into Mermaid of the Pearls before I pick up another big project.  Plus, I need to pick up a few more Glorianas to get myself started.  I took a few better pictures of Shimmering Mermaid today, but I've decided to save them for another post.  There are a ton of pictures in this post already!  Thanks for reading along with me!
