2014 in Review... And Insanity in 2015!

I hope Everyone had a Happy Holiday and a fun and safe New Year!

2014 was so much fun!  I made some awesome new stitchy friends and spent some time with some old ones.  I also had a fairly productive year!  Because of all of you and your support, Under the Sea Fabrics just keeps growing!  And I've finished more projects this year then ever before!

Here's a few finishes I've had to keep under wraps because they were Christmas Presents.

Charbleu by Needle Delights Originals.  It's counted canvas and I used whatever threads I had in my Stash.

Hidden Treasures Pirate Map by Lynn Nicoletti.  I've been working on this for awhile for The Husband and I love the Jolly Roger frame I chose for it.

And We The People by the Ship's Manor.  This was a quick stitch!

And here is a pic of all of my 2014 Finishes!  I really feel like a lot got done :)

My Friend Kenny has talked me into starting 15 projects in the first 15 days of 2015!  Crazy right?!?!?!?!  So here are the ones I have planned.  Might Slip a few more in or switch them around.

Today is Day Seven so I've started 7 already but I'll start off with Days One through Five in this post.

Day One: Mermaid of Atlantis by Mirabilia Designs on   Midnight Mermaid from Under the Sea Fabrics.

Day Two: Circle of Friends by Mirabilia Designs on a Jewel by Under the Sea Fabrics.

Day Three: Twisted Band Sampler Color Conversion on Looking Glass by Under the Sea Fabrics.  I'm converting the colors to Peacock-y colors and Band One is done in Black Forest Waterlilies and Band Two is almost done in Pine Forest Waterlilies.

Day Four: Mermaids of the Deep Blue Color Conversion on Calypso's Cay by Under the Sea Fabrics.  I am changing them to Grey and Purple and really kind of doing the conversion on the fly so the floss toss isn't accurate.

And lastly, Day Five: Alessandra Adelaide Designs Advent Calender SAL 2015 Stitched with Cardinal and Emerald Waterlilies on Looking Glass by Under the Sea Fabrics.

Wow!  That was A LOT!  Well, in a couple of days, I'll post days six through ten.  TTFN!

Stitching A.D.D

Hello all!  I've been in a mood since finishing Buttercup a couple of weeks ago.  I want to stitch but can't decide what to stitch on!  I've promised myself no new starts (except for a couple of exchange ornies) until I finish at least one more project.  Two would be better.  I've been working a bit each night on all of these projects, even if it is only a stitch or two.

I actually have 5 or 6 more wips than this but I decided if I concentrated on a few select ones, I'd get more done.

I've been working on The Husband's Pirate Map the most.  Mainly because it's for him and he's here to bug me about it.

I'm getting close to being done with all of the green in the center of the chart and will be able to move into the large areas of light blue.  This is stitched on a random Jewel by Under the Sea Fabrics.

Now, Merchant Mermaid by Mirabilia.

I'vve gotten some progress done on her skin and tail.  I truly HATE this fabric.  It is Ale by PTP and the weave is extremely loose and the color isn't as rich as I wanted.  It also pills quite a bit.  I want her to have a stained, aged look so I plan to distress her by dipping her in a brownish bronze dye when I've finished the stitching.  I'm not beading as I go with her because of the dye plan and it's a little odd to get used to.

Deep Blue Sea

I really love this piece.  The fabric (Witching Hour Opal Belfast by Under the Sea Fabrics) is perfect and the silks are so vibrant.

I've decided to try to get the borders done before I do anymore filling in.  Here is a close up of the one I'm working on.

I really love this piece and I'm so glad I pulled it back out to work on.

And Lastly, Earth Dancer by Butternut Road.

I'm stitching her on Midnight Mermaid Opal Cashel by Under the Sea Fabrics and I just love her.  It's like she pops off of the fabric!

The fabric is supposed to be water fading up into a midnight blue sky.  But I think with the way I've positioned her, she will look like the Aurora Borealis is behind her in the sky.  I'm leaving off the trees and adjusting the colors of the dream catcher to go with the fabric.  You know I can't leave well enough alone!

TTFN!

It's Been Awhile...

... Since I've posted.  I've let the blog go longer than I like to but I've been BUSY!  Christmas was crazy, I got the Under the Sea Fabrics website up and running (check it out!), and I've been a busy almost single mom for the last few months since The Husband has been overseas.  I haven't gotten a ton of stitching done but I do have a few updates :)

First, here is Buttercup!  I finally finished her hair and will be starting the petit point on her skin soon.

And here is a close up of the beading in her crown:

And here is Deepest Love.  It is for my friend Kellee's Round Robin.  Her theme is mermaids.  Sound familiar?  hehehe

And finally, an update on The Husband's Pirate Map.  This piece doesn't get much time because it is my travel project.

Thank you for stitcking with me!  And please check out my hand-dyed fabrics website.  I'm still adding all of my colors.  Under the Sea Fabrics.
