Happy New Year!

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a fun and safe New Years!  I haven't received all of my silks for Deep Blue Sea yet but I went ahead and put exactly six stitches of DMC 806 into the fabric so I could say I started it today.

I also gridded the center.  I've never gridded before but I wanted to have the center marked until I made a bit of progress on it.  After some research, the thread most widely recommended for gridding is Sulky Sliver Metallic.  I'd never used it before but as all of the thread at Jo-Ann's Fabrics was 50% off I bought a spool of red.  It's very sparkly and easy to use.  Hopefully it will be easy to pull out when I need to.  I like the contrast on my black fabric.  I might try gridding some on white to see how it shows on that too.

I spent three hours a couple of nights ago frogging the skin on Persephone.  And two days trying to get back to where I was before.  I like the way she looks now better and I will post a pic in a day or two.

As of right now, I have 23 followers!  Thanks guys!  Yal are the best!  I've pulled a Carries Creations, Hand Dyed Fibers, and a Dinky Dyes silk to give away when I hit 25.  Hopefully that will be in the next couple of days.  Thank you for taking the time to read my blog!

  3. How are the colors on the black? I haven't seen all the threads besides DMC as I am waiting on the kit. Will any blend in like they have on blue fabric? I am having a hard time picking a fabric.

  4. Hi, I also joined Martina's Deep Blue Sea. May I ask if you are going to do the whole thing on QSnaps? If you are ...could you perhaps draw a diagram of how you put your QSnaps together? I am so serious! I too bought a floor frame from Kay's Creations...but, I have not decided if paying over $230.00 was worth it yet. I love QSnaps...yet , I bought a 30 inch scroll frame that I can not figure out how to attach to my new frame. I am disappointed . So....I haves bunch of QSnaps I try to assemble to fit my projects. Also, I am so P.O.ed that I have NOT gotten my fabric from SilkWeaver's (Agean Aqua) yet after more then a month! As far as that goes, I really couldn't start because poor Cindy at Europen Cross Stitch is still waiting for back ordered silk's from Europe. Cindy is a darling.....SilkWeavers is NOT!

  5. Oh... I forgot to ask about your QSnap covers! Do you buy or make yours? I guess I better start buying or making my own since I truly doubt if I am going to use the 30" scroll frame from Kay's Creations. Please let me know?

  6. I've heard about the backordered silks problem! Trust me, it's not just Cindy having trouble getting them! I think I can get a little bit done with what has aleady come in. The Q-snaps covers are $10 each and include shipping within the US. I'm actually really jealous of your Aegean Aqua. I've been coveting that fabric! I'm hoping SilkWeavers gets it to you soon and that you'll love the color. I can't wait to see the pics! I'm going to stitch all of Deep Blue Sea in Q-snaps and then when I start beading at the end, I'll put it in 20 inch q-snaps for as much beading as I can do before I have to bead the edges by hand. On 32 ct, mine should be able 20.5 inches square so I should be able to do most of the beading in the 20s.
